Trail Tidbits
In Georgia, black bears are found in swampy areas and in mountain areas, and sometimes in between.
Bears are omnivorous- they eat plant type food and meat including green leaves, grass, berries, fruits, acorns, insects, and some dead animals.
They don't truly hibernate in the winter, but do sleep a lot more and eat less than usual until spring arrives.
Adult black bears weigh 300 pounds or more while newborns only weigh a half pound!
